consider that he keeps at the center of his creative inspiration the
artworks of the former most presti gious art religious masters his

We cannot resist being
considerably amazed when we enter the artshop of Jean Claude de
FOUGERES. We feel as if we were walking back in time to the age of
the great Italian masters of religious art.

An
incredible spiritual presence |

We
are surrounded by angels, saints, the virgin and all others biblical
personnages in their life size. Their most impressive origina lity is
that the artist creates them with a central sight, full of love and
compas sion that seems to follow you at any place you can stand in a
room. You suddenly become the central personnage fully filled up by
their kindest attention and feeling totally protected. |

Behind
the stage |

We can discover the
intricate process and numerous artistic steps necessary for every
creation. The draftmanship is the secret field of the artist. He will
lets no one take care of this very intimate union between spirit and
form. Hundreds of sketches cover every surface from the walls to the
work bench. Even the choice of wood or canvas requires great care
corresponding to the exact needs of the commission. |

Artistic
steps mean sure gesture |

Every assistant has a very
specific role in which he excels, trained by Jean Claude. Every piece
comes to life passing through painting, varnish, old patina and
guilding. Perhaps the process seems lengthy, but not when we think of
how long each piece will continue to inspire the devotion and admi
ration of art lovers for generations. When time allows Jean Claude
has the pleasure to recreate for himself the nicest pieces he has
realized in the past. He confesses that, there have been times when
he regretted to have to part with some of his favorite pieces of art
only to pay his bills. |
