Bathed
in Art and History |
|
Jean Claude fondly recalls
giving castle tours with his Grandmother in the Loire Valley Castles
region of France. This
area happen to be famous for royal residence over the last four
centuries. Architecture, French history and great collections of
paintings became certainly an admirable source of inspiration. At age
ten he was selling his sketches and portraits to the tourists for one
dollar each. A
Jesuit priest recognized his artistic potential and decided to take
him under his wing. He taught him the academic religious art of
Giotto, Carravagio, Mantegna, Champaigne, The Titian, Fra Angelico,
Pacheco, Ribera and Raphael.
After finishing his studies
in philosophy he became a copyist at the Louvre Museum in Paris and
the Uffizi Museum in Florence to study the works of the masters and
to perfect himself by their example. There he had the great
opportunity to study extensively the master pieces of David, Gauguin
Gericault, Rubens, Courbet, Le Titian, Ingres, De la Tour, Monet and
other acknowledged artists. In Time, more and more collectors became
interested in commissioning his faithifully handpainted reproduc
tions of museum master pieces. Thus he gradually gained a greater
measure of social and intellectual recognition as well as financial
success for his ability. |

Worlwide
Artistic curiousity |
|
Curious
of other artistic cultures, Jean Claude took the time to travel
extensively all over the world with passion. That has given him a
chance to get acuainted with various art trends that reflected
different cultural values and improved his own artistic vision. In
Europe he walked on the steps of his prede cesors discovering the
old Rome, Florence, Athenes or Toledo and Sevilla in Spain. In the
Middle East he would sketch the biblical landscapes and pieces of
architecture that he has used in his religious pieces of art. In
Asia, Africa, North or South America as well as in the Pacific
Islands his inspiration was sparked by the beauty of the women,
children, historical scenes, architecture and exotic nature. Jean
Claude's paintings, created with an extraror dinary passion are alive
with a freedom of color and dreamy images that take us beyond first
aesthetic visuals into the deep territory of inner sensation. |

His
passion for the Religious Art |
|
Jean Claude received his
first artistic education through Reli gious Art. This traditional
artistic base will stay present during all his life. Few years ago
receiving more commissions for altars and biblical scenes, he
developped extensively his production as well his passion and love
for the angelic paintings that reflect the mystery of christian faith
and spiritual truth. The personages are represented as living
characters, and the religious significance of the tragedy are
heightened by astute use of light. Besides
his various mode of expression, Jean Claude stays the last Classical
Religious Art Painter. His knowledge of the iconography, art history,
traditions and techniques of the old masters are the necessary
ingredients of his original creations. |
